Detroit is renowned for its deep musical roots and contribution to the art form. Born and raised in the birthplace of techno, Sistrum Recordings owner Patrice Scott is leading the next generation of Detroit House artists, and now he will be making an appearance at VENT on January 25th!

Patrice grew up in the musically abundant Detroit scene. When he was a child, he was influenced by the local DJ group Direct Drive, as well as by block parties, which inspired to go on to do what he does now. It can be said that his inspiration was deeply rooted in live music and the dance floor. Combining deep house and techno sounds, Patrice has become one of Detroit’s most innovative and dynamic club DJs.

Patrice grew with the pantheon of legendary early Detroit Techno artists like Juan Atkins, Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson, and Jeff Mills, as well as The Electrifying Mojo. During the same time, only a few hundred miles away in Chicago, there was Larry Heard, Ron Hardy, and Frankie Knuckles, who also inspired Patrice to create the sound he has today.

Not only is Patrice a DJ, he has been praised by Resident Advisor for his production skill. His music transcends deep house and techno, and is beyond what is popular or not, it is a sound unique to him, a sound driven by a pursuit of passion and an innovative mind.
