A luminary in Taiwan’s underground techno realm, Diskonnected stands as a trendsetter in the current scene, gracing renowned clubs like Berghain. Prepare for a sonic journey as Diskonnected takes the stage at SECT, presented by OCCA/YSK!

The dance music landscape across Asia is currently at a pivotal juncture, driven by a societal need for “a sense of commonality through non-verbal music” or a “deeper unity.” This shift is intricately tied to the demand for a more profound sense of connection. Diskonnected, hailing from the heart of Asia, Taiwan, and leader of Smoke Machine, a collective that curates mesmerizing dance music worldwide along with non-Western ethnic sounds, has been a poised observer of this evolution. His presence at “SECT,” a symbol of a new era in the Japanese underground scene, marks a special and significant moment for Japan’s rich clubbing history.

Recently, Resident Advisor unveiled a buzzworthy six-hour all-night set recorded at Minh, the Hong Kong club where Diskonnected holds residency. This set, ranging from BPM 90 to a sublime 160, is a result of a chemical fusion between the prevailing heat in Asia and his extensive music collection built over the years. It offers a captivating glimpse into this musical journey.

In Room 1, DJ MARIA., a prominent figure in Tokyo’s techno scene, whose recent performance at Berghain has been a topic of discussion, will be part of the lineup. Additionally, both SECT organizers, OCCA from Sapporo in northern Japan, known for his distinctive collection featured at “BASSIANI,” the new techno scene flagship, and YSK, who oversees “sound space α” in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka, will bring their unique sounds to the event.

Room 2 will showcase Lynne, a modern drum n’ bass standard-bearer whose abstract drone work was featured in Smoke Machine’s “UNCOVER” series in 2019. Her closing set on the final day of this year’s avant-garde electronic music festival Mostra in Barcelona was a highlight of the event. The lineup will also feature SISINOBU, a member of ZUNDOKO DISCO, who explores the creative and technical facets of dance music. Additionally, Toner, the leader of LIMINAL DREAMS, an electronic ambient music community that has traversed through the club music scene, will bring an alternative flavor and vivid color to the evening.
