For 10 years now the coolest and craziest crowds in Tokyo have been gathering at the SCREAM! Halloween party, and this year Derek Plaslaiko, who the Village Voice dubbed the best techno DJ, will be gracing the ones and twos.

Derek Plaslaiko, dubbed the best techno party DJ by the beloved, 60 year-running, New York culture magazine, the Village Voice, will be playing at the 10th installment of the SCREAM! Halloween party, only at VENT, on October 26th!

Derek Plaslaiko grew up around Detroit, birthplace of techno music. At the beginning of his career he was greatly influenced by the Electrifying Mojo and The Wizard (an earlier Jeff Mills pseudonym), and decided to take the techno path. He first started making headway in the mid-90s, playing warehouse parties all over Detroit, and went on to open the Detroit Electronic Music Festival in 2000 by way of invitation from Carl Craig himself. Furthermore, he has been a resident at the Bunker in New York for over 10 years. In the summer of 2011, he played at the weekly Visionquest party at the famous Berlin club, Visionaere. And nowadays he calls the city of Berlin home.

Recently, Derek has been traveling all over the map to cities like New York, Paris, Seattle, LA, and Philly to drop long 12-hour sets. Not to mention, he’s played at some of the world’s premiere clubs and festivals, including but not limited to Tresor, Hot Mass, Beta, Output, Smart Bar, and Berghain, as well as Decibel, Communikey, and Movement. He’s released the No Way Back series on the Detroit label Interdimensional Transmissions, and in the past he has released on Perc Trax and Minus, which have be rereleased.
