Fusing techno with jazz, Flanger and Anthony Linell are gearing up for a dream lineup to ring in the New Year, at VENT!

Come celebrate New Year’s Eve (December 31st) at VENT with a night chock full of top-class techno! We will be ringing in the 2020 with a banger of a double header! We excited to feature epic unit Flanger, which consists of genius producer Atom ™️ and epic experimentalist Burnt Friedman, and the highly acclaimed (including in Japan) Anthony Linell whose earlier works were under the moniker Abdulla Rashim and was released on popular labels like Svreca’s Semantica and Prologue!

Flanger, a duo of 2 genius producers, are at the cutting-edge of futuristic electronic jazz. Comprised of Uwe Schmidt of Senor Coconut and Atom Heart fame, and German electronic music legend Burnt Friedman, who has in the past collaborated with the music industry heavyweights like Jaki Liebezeit of Can, Steve Jansen, and David Sylvain. Their album released on Ninja Tunes back in 1999 had an experimental sound that incorporated reconstructed classic jazz and was a huge hit. Their exceptional first Japan performance at VENT back in 2017 is still fresh in our memories!

Swedish artist Anthony Linell has opened the potential for contemporary techno wide open via his various monikers, such as Abdulla Rashim, Lundin Oil, and Ulwhedar. He operate Northern Electronics along with his compatriot Varg; his style ranging from hypnotic techno, industrial, trance, to avant garde works it’s no wonder his records keep flying off record store shelves here in Japan! Linell is an artist who is in pursuit of a beautiful and uncompromising motif and mission, purposefully shifting back and forth between the techno world and the experimental music realm.
