Richie Hawtinは紛れもなくオリジナルな存在だ。ファイン・アートのイノベーターとしても、テクノロジーのパイオニアとしても、彼のクリエイティブは非常に高く評価されてきた。イギリスに生まれカナダで育った彼は、Plus8やMINUS Recordsのビジネスを司り、90年代のSpeedy Jから2010年代のGaiserに至るまで多くの才能を育ててきた。アーティストとしてはRichie Hawtin名義だけではなく、Plastikmanの名義でも大きな活躍を見せ、アンダーグラウンドのものであったアヴァンギャルドなエレクトロニック・ミュージックをより大きなマーケットへと押し広げてきた。テクノだけでなくEDMに至るまで、幅の広いエレクトロニック・ミュージックのアーティストにとっても多大な影響を残してきたのだ。

人気レーベルMuteの創設者、Daniel MillerはRichie Hawtinのことを「”リーダー”であって”開拓者”である」と評し、New York Times誌は「エレクトロニック・ダンスの世界における知的推進力の一人」と評した。それだけではなく、別ジャンルからの称賛もHawtinの影響力を知ることができるだろう。人気のファッション・デザイナーのRaf Simonsは「今日のKraftwerkだ」と語るほど、音楽の領域を超えてその存在感を示している。

Superstar and one of the founders of modern techno, Richie Hawtin will be coming to VENT!

Iconic superstar who has being advancing techno to the forefront of music since the 90s, Richie Hawtin will making an appearance at VENT on December 13th!

Richie Hawtin is unmistakably one of the originals. As an innovator of fine art and pioneer of technology, his creativity has received high accolades. Born in England and raised in Canada, me runs the Plus8 and Minus Records labels, and is responsible for nurturing such acts like Speedy J back in the 90s and Gaiser in the 2010s. As an artist, he has had great success not only under his own name, but under other monikers like Plastikman, pushing the boundaries of avant-garde electronic music. He has left a massive impact on a wide range of music from techno to EDM.

Daniel Miller, founder of the highly popular Mute print has touted Hawtin as “a leader and a pioneer”, and the New York Times has praised him as “one of the intellectual driving forces in the world of electronic music”. Not only that, Hawtin has been lauded by artists of other genres on how he’s impacted their sound. Popular fashion designer, Raf Simons, has talked of Hawtin being “today’s Kraftwerk” – showing that his influence has transcended the world of music.

In addition to music and art, Hawtin has demonstrated his creativity in the world of technology, as he was part of the initial development programs for Ableton Live and Native Instrument’s Traktor Scratch applications – he was one of the earlier artists holding events that fused music and art with technology.
